What is Fibre Internet?
Fibre Internet is is an Internet or data connection, that is carried over Optical Fibre using light waves from a central node to the end user locations.
The two key components of Fibre Internet are the Optical Fibres and the last mile technology of the network.
Optical Fibres are only slightly larger than human hair or about 125 microns in diameter. These Fibres are bundled together forming Optical Fibre Cables. The Optical Fibres carry laser or LED Light along the light using a binary form when transmitting information.
When these pulses of light reach their destination they need to be converted into a an output that devices like routers can be connected to. This is performed by the optical network terminal or network termination device that converts the signal into Ethernet for the users to routers and other devices connect to.
Fibre uses light rather than using electricity to transmit information, unlike copper and other access technologies it has significant advantages. As a result Optical Fibre, is not affected by water or weather conditions and is more resistant to electrical interference and other issues that effect copper cables and some other technologies like Fixed Wireless.

If your site is On Net (meaning that our network fibre is already in your building or in front of your building), we can get a service qualification done very quickly. Sometimes as little as 10 minutes. Where a build is required the time frame vary dramatically between carriers from 5 business days through the 40+ business days for remote or complex locations.
Can we get layer 2 Business Fibre?
